You were put on earth to make a contribution. You weren’t created just to consume resources – to eat, breathe, and take up space. God designed you to make a difference with your life. While many best-selling books offer advice on how to “get” the most out of life, that’s not the reason God made you. You were created to add to life on earth, not just take from it. God wants you to give something back.

Rick Warren – The purpose driven life : What on Earth Am I here for?

How many days did you wake up bouncing from bed with all of your energy juices flowing perfectly, being excited about the day itself?

  • Do you really feel you are living a meaningful life?
  • Have you ever felt the emptiness, something shallow that needs to be filled inside you?
  • Do you really feel that you are living an exceptional life by being some tool of help of some kind in other’s life?
  • Do you use your unique gifts for the sake of others, that can be your family, friends, society or someone else in the world.
  • Do you intend to contribute to making the world better?

Then already you are living an inspired life.

Most of us are feeling a lack of something in our life at any given point of time. We miss that sense of fulfillment. We spend most of our time, almost all of our life, running to earn a living, pressured with the job we don’t love to do, becoming stressed, only to realize time flew at the wink of an eye.

If you desire a happy and fulfilling life then you are not alone. This is what everyone wants. But the vast majority never achieve the level of happiness and fulfilment that they are looking for. Why? Because they do not know what their life purpose is and will not put in any effort to discover this.

Unfortunately, most people let life control them. They drift along letting life push them in all different directions and are never truly happy and fulfilled. These people have no idea what their true calling in life is and are not willing to put any effort into finding what their life’s purpose is.

If you want to experience the best that life has to offer you and be really happy with who you are and what you have then you must discover the purpose of your life. When you know what your real life’s purpose is there will be no stopping you.

When we are talking about the purpose of life, we are not talking about some God-Given single purpose. It is not some heavenly task given to you to accomplish and return back, instead I would like to describe it as an invisible force guiding us throughout our life. A force that keeps us awake and alive all the time. A force that literally pushes us to spring bounce from bed daily morning to live your purpose.

At some point in life, each one of us would have asked this question :  “What is the meaning of my life? Why do I exist at all?” Millions have been born on this earth and millions have gone. Still we would be wondering what is the significance of our existence here on earth. While some philosophers may say “The purpose of life is just to be”, if we take it superficially we will sit simply without doing anything. Imagine the whole world doing the same thing.

“Just be” is a strong metaphorical term that has to be understood in its deepest sense.

If everyone has to “Just be ” why each and every one of us is unique, with unique talents, unique skill sets. Someone will be good at mathematics while someone else devours it (That includes me). Universe has got its own balance in Creation. As someone else has said, the almighty divine source that is flowing through us administers the whole system by deploying us for its various activities. For example, an architect is an architect so that he will solve someone’s need of having a beautiful place of dwelling. The same way in all areas of life, a teacher is needed to educate, an artist is needed to entertain, a scientist is needed to build scientific systems that are helpful to others and so on and so on.

The irony of Being and Becoming:

We always long to become something while ignoring what we are already at the present. We are always in constant strife between being and becoming. But if at all we have a clear way of looking at “what is” our current being, we will realize the enormous potential we have within us. We will then realize, we need not become something, for “what we are” already is greater than that. When we try to become something, we are pedalling against the stream, but when we have realized our being we stay with the flow – and flow with the limitless universe.

But most of the systems in the current world takes us far away from this and teaches us of “Becoming Something” that leads us to desperation and depression. Eventually the stress eats up to our death. Instead of looking at something away from us, if we start looking within us, inside us – we will find our Ultimate Calling – the purpose of our life.

So what is the purpose of life?

The purpose of life is to live a life of purpose.

If you do what you love to do, and what you do is equally helpful to others then that means you are living a purposeful inspired life.

Your life’s purpose is all about fulfilment. It is not about doing things for the most money or because of fear of insecurity. Once you find those fulfilling things then you need to act on them right away. It is important not to suppress things that truly fulfil you.

Money or No Money:

One obvious question that may arise at this point is,

“If I start doing things to fulfill myself will I get money out of it? Should I focus on Money or not?”

The answer is again quite obvious. Your Focus should be only on fulfilling your purpose. Everything else will follow. That includes money. Take a note below at What Shakti Gawain, Author of Famous Books Creative Visualization, Living in Light is saying

When you start living your ultimate calling, then that means you are already in your true being – Living-In-Spirit or simply as your unique self. Then as per the flawless design of the Universe “Everything flows to you naturally”.

Shakti Gawain

Hope that addresses the deep meaning of the philosophical notion : “Just be”

There is no point in saying “To live your purpose, you gotta renounce money”. Infact Money is just another resource that helps you fulfill your purposeful living. You have to balance your purpose, passion, actions over it and hence reaping the benefits for yourself as well as others. The Japanese Concept of IKIGAI talks about this clearly.
